X:ML is a disorganized collective of Garlean defectors now assembled into a rag-tag hacker group.Their numbers consist of ex-imperial engineers, technologists and programmers. As a whole, the group was originally formed mostly by exiles and desertersBefore the fall of Garlemald, they had been attempting to crash the Garlean economy, sabotage imperial Magitek, steal blueprints -- or otherwise engage in any number of tech-oriented schemes with intent to disrupt imperial progress.These days, their efforts are somewhat confused and directionless, while Risk himself seems to have left them behind on bad terms.

As a traitor to the Empire, Risk made a career out of imperial sabotage and Magitek hacking, modifying any piece of imperial code that he could get his hands on, supposedly to keep technological advancement from proceeding as planned.His efforts yielded negligible results overall.

IMPERIAL FUGITIVE

"Risk" was originally "Nikolaos Nan Severna" (also known to his childhood classmates as "Brittle Bones Nicky") and worked as a Magitek engineer under Imperial command.Apparently, due to equipment sabotage resulting in trillions of gil in losses, Nikolaos began moving between locations and using "Risk" as his newfound criminal identity.Aside from those that he worked with, only someone with access to Garlemald's old military records will have any notion of Risk's original identity, as well as the actions that led up to his defection.
